Accessibility Statement
The Law Offices of Louis J. Shapiro is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We treat accessibility as part of serving clients properly, not as a formality.
Conformance status
We measure this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard most widely referenced in connection with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, and that we have identified the areas that do not yet meet it and are working on them. Those areas are listed below.
The site was last formally assessed on 10 August 2026, using a combination of automated testing (axe-core 4.10.2) and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation. All eleven pages were assessed.
What this site does
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, without a mouse
- Drop-down navigation menus open, close and can be moved through using only the keyboard
- A “Skip to main content” link lets keyboard and screen reader users bypass the navigation
- Every element that receives keyboard focus shows a clearly visible focus indicator
- Images carry text alternatives describing what they show
- Press coverage and event materials are published as selectable text, not only as pictures of text
- Embedded videos and maps are labelled so screen readers announce their purpose
- Text and background colours meet the required contrast ratios
- Links within body text are underlined, so they are not identified by colour alone
- Pages reflow without horizontal scrolling down to a 320-pixel screen width, and stay usable at 200% zoom
- Headings and landmark regions are structured so assistive technology can navigate the page
Known limitations
We would rather be straightforward about what is not finished than claim more than is true.
- One scanned press item. One piece of press coverage on our News & Events page is still published as a scanned image of a printed article. It carries a description, but the full article text is not yet available as selectable text. If you would like the text of any article on that page, contact us using the details below and we will send it to you.
- Captions on four embedded videos. The four videos embedded on this site currently carry automatically generated captions only. Automatic captions are not accurate enough for legal content, where case names, statutes and figures matter, so reviewed captions are being prepared for all four.
Tell us about a problem
If you encounter a barrier on this site, or need any information here in a different format, please tell us. We take this seriously.

It helps if you can include the address of the page and a short description of what you were trying to do — but please don’t feel you need to describe it in technical terms. Telling us what went wrong is enough.
How we maintain this
Accessibility is not a one-time project. We reassess this site at least quarterly, and after any significant change to its content or design. New content is checked against the same standard before it is published.
